Pradosh Vrat is a sacred fast observed twice a month on Trayodashi Tithi, just before sunset, dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. It is believed that worshipping Lord Shiva during Pradosh Kaal removes sins, grants prosperity, and brings health, wealth, and spiritual upliftment.

🙏 Pradosh Vrat Rituals & Vidhi

1. Morning Preparations

  • Wake up early, take a holy bath, and wear clean clothes.
  • Clean the puja area; place Shiva Lingam or Shiva-Parvati idols with flowers and incense.

2. Fasting Rules

  • Many devotees observe a full-day fast, consuming only fruits, milk, or water.
  • Some follow partial fasting depending on health or work commitments.
  • Avoid grains, onion, garlic, and tamasic foods.

3. Evening Puja (Pradosh Kaal)

  • Offer bilva leaves (Bel patra), flowers, fruits, water, milk, and ghee.
  • Chant mantras such as:
    • Om Namah Shivaya
    • Shiva Stotra or Lingashtakam
    • Rudram
  • Perform arati and dhyan to Lord Shiva and Parvati.

4. Breaking the Fast

  • Break the fast after sunset puja, or after offering food to Brahmins and needy.
