🪔 Karthigai Deepam 2025 – Overview
Karthigai Deepam, also called Thrikarthika, is one of the oldest festivals celebrated in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The festival marks the victory of light over darkness and is closely associated with Lord Murugan and Lord Shiva.
The grand celebration takes place at Arunachaleswarar Temple, Thiruvannamalai, where a massive fire lamp (Maha Deepam) is lit atop the Annamalai Hill, symbolizing divine light and wisdom.
Devotees light rows of oil lamps in their homes and temples, chant prayers, and observe rituals seeking prosperity and spiritual enlightenment.
