Rashtriya Panchang
The Rashtriya Panchang has been published by the Positional Astronomy Centre since 1879 Saka Era (1957-58 A.D.). Its purpose is to bring together the various calendar systems used in different regions of the country and promote the use of panchang calculations based on modern scientific principles. In addition to Hindi and English, the Rashtriya Panchang is published in several Indian languages, including Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
The Rashtriya Panchang provides accurate timings for sunrise, sunset, moonrise, and moonset in four major cities of India, as well as information on tithis, nakshatras, yogas, and the movements of the sun, moon, and planets into Nirayana Rasis and nakshatras. The calculations are done using computers and modern scientific principles. Detailed explanations of important numerical calculations are provided for the users’ convenience. Each day of the year includes a calendric table with Julian date, Kali Ahargana, Moon’s age and phases, and the listing of major festivals and anniversaries.
This publication serves as the standardized Panchang for the entire country and serves as a valuable resource for calendric data.
