Deity & Significance
Lord Venkateswara, also known as Balaji, Govinda, or Srinivasa, is revered as the Kaliyuga Varada (Savior of the present age). According to Hindu belief, he descended to earth to guide humanity toward salvation during the age of Kali (Kaliyuga).
The main idol, about 8 feet tall, is believed to be self-manifested and radiates divine energy. The temple is considered so sacred that devotees often donate their hair, money, gold, or valuables as an offering to the Lord.
Legend of Tirupati Balaji
As per mythology:
- Lord Vishnu descended on Earth in the form of Venkateswara to marry Padmavati, the daughter of a local king.
- He incurred a huge debt for the divine wedding, borrowing from Kubera, the god of wealth.
- It is believed that devotees’ offerings help repay this debt—hence the significance of donations at the temple.
